Selby Abbey

The glorious sound of Prima Vocal Ensemble and the York Railway Institute Band combine to present a magical musical evening of Christmas Classics!

Following on from Christmas 2020 - when there was virtually no live music, conductors Ewa Salecka and David Lancaster have devised a programme which includes the best loved traditional carols and Christmas songs, alongside their own favourites, chosen from the seasonal repertoire.

The choir's offering will include stunning classical pieces by Morten Lauridsen, Gabriel Faurie and John Rutter with some seasonal selection including Carol of the Bells, Sleigh Ride and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

The band have chosen a wide range of Christmas music, to include 'Shepherd's Song', 'Three Kings Swing' and a performance of Eric Ball's magnificent 'Kingdom Triumphant' based on Christmas themes.

The concert will end with choir and band together performing Gordon Langford's joyous 'Christmas Fantasy' woven from the most popular Christmas Carols.

In the glorious setting of Selby Abbey, this concert promises to be the most wonderfully atmospheric start to your Christmas celebrations.
